About Petersfield
Petersfield is set within the glorious countryside of the South Downs National Park and is an old established market town which dates back to the early 14th century having been built around a church known as ‘St Peter’s in the field’.
Petersfield is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is now designated as a much loved National Park. One of the most popular areas, and considered the jewel in the crown by many, is The Heath. This area covers some 69 acres of land together with a 22 acre pond.
Petersfield is well known for its high standard of schooling and being within the catchment area for some of the highest ranking schools in the country. Other facilities are excellent and cater for a variety of recreational and sporting pastimes.
The Town Centre has which used to host the earlivestock market days is now thriving with shoppers enjoying some retail therapy in the many national retail shops such as M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Boots, WH Smith, Laura Ashley, New Look and many others. The facilities are excellent and in addition to the schooling include good recreational and sporting facilities. The many pretty villages and hamlets in the surrounding area provide highly desirable residential locations.
Communications
Petersfield station is on the mainline London to Portsmouth railway with regular services to Waterloo, reached in about an hour. For the car driver the A3 gives good access to Guildford and London – which has been significantly improved by the opening of the Hindhead Tunnel. Access to Heathrow, Gatwick and the South Coast is by motorway.
