On Sunday, our local director Adrian Cannon, will be walking the annual Phyllis Tuckwell Walk for the Wards event alongside his wife, Tracey, sons Max and Will and their dog Winnie. This year, the route starts at More House School, Frensham, and takes walkers through miles of beautiful countryside. The walk offers either a 5 or 10 mile route, and they will be rewarded with a free cream tea at the end!
Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or another terminal illness (such as heart, lung or neurological disease) across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire.
For over 35 years they have provided supportive and end of life care to local people, serving 550,000 residents.
Every day they support over 250 patients, carers and relatives in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford.
Their three core services include:
- In-Patient Unit
- Care at Home (including our Hospice Care at Home nursing team)
- Living Well services (including Day Hospice)
The NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, which means we rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community. All our services are free of charge to our patients and their families, but we need to raise over £20,000 a day to offer such an exceptional standard of clinical care and support.
