STAMP DUTY HOLIDAY EXTENDEDÂ
Following the government budget announcement this afternoon, the stamp duty holiday has been extended to the 30th June 2021. This is fantastic news for buyers and sellers alike, as the property market continues to thrive from the opportunity to save thousands. All homes under £500,000 will continue to be scrapped and those buying in excess of £500,000 will still benefit from the maximum £15,000 saving. Additionally, beyond the end of June, the government have put in place a tapered system to end the stamp duty relief until the end of September which will still provide a saving but at a lesser level, meaning now is the time to make the move to benefit from the maximum possible saving.

RETURN OF 95% MORTGAGESÂ
Rishi Sunak also announced a mortgage guarantee scheme with a return of 95% mortgages in a bid to help ‘generation rent’. The government will be offering incentives to lenders to allow those with a small 5% deposit to get onto the property ladder. All lenders under the scheme will offer mortgages fixed for at least 5 years. This scheme is not limited to first-time buyers and will be available on purchases up to £600,000.
